Who is this for?

Budget-conscious buyers with fine to medium, straight or wavy hair.
Skip it if…
Curly hair users who rely heavily on a diffuser.
The Smart Challenger
Shark designed the FlexStyle explicitly to compete with the Dyson Airwrap, and they largely succeeded. It uses a similar high-velocity airflow concept to style without clamping, includes a comparable set of attachments, and sells for $100–$150 less.
The build quality is a step below Dyson — the plastic feels lighter, the magnetic attachment connection less satisfying — but none of that affects how your hair actually looks after styling.
Where it wins
On fine to medium straight or wavy hair, results are nearly indistinguishable from the Airwrap. For buyers who aren't brand-loyal and are willing to spend 15 minutes on YouTube before the first use, the FlexStyle is the rational choice.
Where it falls short
The diffuser attachment is mediocre compared to Dyson's. Curly-hair users with 3a–4c curl patterns report better results with the Airwrap's diffuser. If your main use case is a diffuser for curly hair, factor that in.
